Rapport A/76/892 van het VN-onderzoek naar de vliegtuigcrash van Dag Hammarskjöld behandelt ook de (uiterst onwaarschijnlijke) hypothese dat Beuckels Hammarskjöld's vliegtuig zou neergeschoten hebben op pagina 52 en 53, met nog wat biografische informatie over Beuckels.

"The Independent Appointee of Belgium stated in the 2020 correspondence that, based on new information received from the Belgian military intelligence service, the “Beukels” referred to in the 2019 report (and earlier reports) was likely a Roger Beuckels, born on 24 October 1942 in Bruges, Belgium, and deceased on 1 June 1991. It was noted that Beuckels had limited experience with the Belgian army as a non-commissioned officer in the Arlon infantry school, prior to being released from service on 1 September 1960 on the grounds of medical disability."

"Belgian records suggest that it is possible that Beuckels was in Katanga as a mercenary between September 1960 and January 1962, but his name does not appear on any known list in Belgium of mercenaries who were active in Katanga in 1961 and no known documents link him to Jacques de Troyer. Furthermore, Beuckels had limited training, with no indication of flight training. On this basis, the Independent Appointee of Belgium concluded that it was unlikely that he would have played a significant role in the Katanga conflict."
